January - July 2019 Sermon Series

Agape Methodist Youth Ministry follows the English Congregation's pulpit schedule closely, as well as introducing youth-specific sermons and workshops along the way.

In January, the English Congregation went through a six-week series on 'Conversational Evangelism'. As YM had already conducted this the previous year, we kicked off 2019 with sermons on personal and spiritual growth, zooming in specifically on knowing oneself, God's grace, means of grace and spiritual disciplines.

In February, we did a two-part introduction to the Scriptures, entitled 'The Big Picture'. This was a quick overview of the Old and New Testament, focusing on covenants throughout the ages.

This led into our 7-week Lenten Studies series, which we conducted in unison with the English Congregation. This year, we covered Maxie and Kimberly Dunnam's 'Workbook on the Beatitudes'.

In late-April, after combined Good Friday and Easter Sunday services, our Youth Staff, Mr Jeremiah Singh, shared a two-part sermon on "When God doesn't make sense" (the second part was in June). This series centered on the book of Habakkuk, focusing on dealing with disappointments and confusion, and highlighting God's never-changing character.

In May, we had the pleasure of listening to Ms Juliette Arulrajah speak from the book of James. Following this, two of our youth leaders, Ms Gretel Tan and Ms Heidi Choo, shared on 'Breaking Free' - sharing with the youths on issues related to pornography and sexuality, from Dr Josh McDowell's conference of the same name, which the pair had attended earlier.

In June, we held our first of two extended worship sessions of the year, which was all about rededicating ourselves to the Lord, afresh. Our youths enjoy these times where the entire service centers around worship and prayer.

In July, we began with the sermon series on Galatians, which is a church-wide book study. We had the pleasure of hearing from our Pastor, Rev Lim Jen Huat, and they youths look forward to hearing from more of our local preachers as well.
